WellSafe Workshop

Help your people to stay well and safe at work

Smith and Wellness, specialists in workplace mental health, and TEACH Services, a charity that supports domestic and family violence (DV) survivors, have created a 2-hour introductory workshop to educate employers, OHS, HR professionals and staff about new workplace wellbeing changes in South Australia.

WellSafe Workshop explained

Our WellSafe workshop centres on DV and its connection with workplace challenges, coercive control and bullying and harassment. It also dives into new South Australian wellbeing guidelines and how these changes will impact you and your organisation.

Workplace wellbeing changes in South Australia – what are they?

In December 2023, South Australia introduced new guidelines to handle the risk of mental harm at work. For the first time, the Australian Code of Practice in Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work defined how to build a safe environment at work, focusing on health and safety.

The State Government also passed changes to the Equal Opportunity (Domestic Abuse) Amendment Act in September 2023 and the new Criminal Law Consolidation (Coercive Control) Amendment Bill is expected to pass in the first half of this year. While usually linked to problems at home, there’s a growing understanding of connections between workplace bullying, control, and how things are managed at work.

If you are in the NDIS sector or support people with disabilities, your role carries a heightened responsibility. These clients are statistically twice as likely to encounter domestic and family violence, and therefore, it is imperative that your team is well-informed and actively compliant with protocols that protect and empower this vulnerable group.
